TADS Alternative

Your parents shouldn't need a help desk just to pay tuition.

TADS runs on disconnected modules that don't share data in real-time, charges families administrative fees per payment transaction, and averages 35+ minute support wait times during peak enrollment season. If your front office is fielding calls from confused parents every billing cycle, there is a better way.

Real Feedback

What TADS users are saying.

Real feedback from school administrators on Capterra, TrustRadius, and community forums.

$5 per payment. Plus late fees.

TADS charges administrative fees per payment transaction. Schools can also pass processing fees to parents on top of that. For families making 10 monthly tuition payments over a school year, that is $50 in administrative fees alone — before payment processing costs are factored in. The fee structure surprises parents and drives calls to your office.

35-minute support wait times.

Real administrator complaints cluster around support availability — particularly during peak enrollment season when every school is onboarding at once. When something breaks in your billing workflow in September, a 35-minute hold is not acceptable. Schools report that written support tickets sometimes go days without resolution.

No mobile app. Just a desktop site on your phone.

TADS has no dedicated mobile app for parents or students. The mobile web experience is described by administrators as difficult to navigate and not optimized for phones. The result: parents give up trying online and call your front office instead — creating work for your staff that the platform was supposed to eliminate.

Three products pretending to be one.

TADS Admissions, TADS Tuition Management, and TADS SIS are separate systems built at different times that do not share data in real-time. Updating a student record in one does not automatically update the others. Staff have reported data inconsistencies across modules that require manual reconciliation.

What's Included

What you get with Acadesync that TADS can't offer.

what-include

One platform, not three pretending to be one

TADS runs separate modules for admissions, billing, and SIS that don't sync in real-time. In Acadesync, update a student record once and it is reflected everywhere instantly — billing, gradebook, health portal, and parent portal.

No per-payment administrative fees for families

TADS charges administrative fees per payment transaction that get passed to parents. Acadesync charges the school a flat monthly rate based on student count. Families pay their tuition — they are not billed a software fee on top of it.

Responsive mobile experience

Acadesync is fully mobile-responsive across all portals. Parents check grades, pay balances, and update contact information from their phones without calling the office.

  • Nurse and health portal — TADS has no health office management module. Acadesync includes health visit logging, medication administration records, immunization tracking, and nurse-to-parent communication — built in, not an add-on.
  • Car line management — TADS has no dismissal or car line feature. Acadesync includes a dedicated car line portal where staff can check students out by scanning or searching, with real-time parent arrival notifications.
  • Lunch POS — TADS does not offer cafeteria point-of-sale. Acadesync includes a full lunch POS with balance management, lunch ordering, and daily reporting for the cafeteria team.
  • Fundraising tools — TADS has no built-in fundraising capability. Acadesync includes donation campaign management, donor tracking, and giving history — useful for annual fund drives and capital campaigns.

Switching from TADS is easier than you think.

TADS provides CSV exports from each module. We reconcile and import everything. Most schools are fully operational on Acadesync within a week — no multi-month implementations.

FAQ's

TADS-specific questions.

1.

Can you migrate our data from TADS?

Yes. TADS provides data exports in standard CSV formats for student records, guardian contacts, enrollment history, and financial account data. Because TADS runs separate modules for admissions, billing, and SIS, we request exports from each module separately and reconcile them during import. We map all three data sources into Acadesync's unified student and account records. Most migrations are fully operational within a week. We'll walk through the export process with your team so nothing gets missed.

2.

How does your billing system handle what TADS does for tuition management?

Acadesync includes flexible payment plan configuration, per-account billing schedules, autopay on card or ACH, late fee assessment, financial aid discounts, and a parent-facing payment portal — all the tuition management capabilities TADS is known for. The key difference is that your billing data lives in the same system as your student records, grades, health records, and enrollment status. There is no reconciliation between modules because there is only one system.

3.

Does Acadesync really not charge families per payment?

Correct. TADS charges an administrative fee per payment transaction that schools typically pass through to families. With a 10-payment annual plan, that is $50 in fees per family — before payment processor charges. Acadesync charges the school a flat monthly rate based on enrolled student count. Families pay their tuition; they are not billed a software fee on top of it. Schools can still configure convenience fees for card payments if they choose, but there is no mandatory per-transaction administrative charge from Acadesync.

4.

How long does it take to switch from TADS?

Faster than you would expect. Because TADS runs three separate modules, the mental model of "we have to migrate our whole system" can feel overwhelming — but in practice, you are exporting three sets of CSVs and importing them into one place. Setup in Acadesync is 30 minutes for the platform itself. Data import and configuration for your school's billing rules, grade levels, and class structure typically takes a few days with our help. Most schools are fully operational within a week of starting. We time migrations for summer or semester breaks when possible.
